Stone Cold Parisian Bitches

Paris is, of course, renowned for its art, architecture & beauty. The people of Paris are especially renowned for their style, seeming to effortlessly pull together that look – chic, easy, classic.

And while others may banter about whether that is true or not – and I have to say just in my week here I’m inclined to somewhat agree – mine is not the place to quibble over streetstyle or “ootd” or whatever.

Instead, I want to talk about some unappreciated beauties that never seem to grace the posts of style blogs or the pages of Vogue.

The beautiful statues of the ladies of Paris.

They are everywhere, and they are incredibly beautiful. Some are nameless, having lost their stories and names throughout the last few centuries, others have become only a name – entire lives distilled down to a plaque with dates.

Today I wandered around through the Luxembourg Gardens and decided to take some portraits of the “Queens, Saints & Illustrious Women” that surround the main garden. The statues celebrate “Queens of France & Illustrious Women, chosen for their marks in the history of France, their virtue or their renowned.” I didn’t get all of them, as some photos just didn’t turn out.

I’ve also added some Caryatids, Goddesses, Friezes, and a couple of well dressed gents.
