Today, this wonderful and magical November 21st 2014, I forayed out to the edges of the city to visit one very special place.
I took the metro out to Porte de Versailles for the incredible hedonist’s dream known as Salon Saveurs – a gourmet food exposition.
I walked around here happy to the core of my little piggy heart. Imagine walking along, and having someone say “would you like to try some Jamon Iberico?” And then hand you a little taster tray. Or maybe you’d like to try an incredible raclette? Some dark chocolate truffles? Entire stalls dedicated to spices, syrups, cheeses, cookies, cakes, chocolates, wine, sausages! Everything the gourmand’s heart desires.
At the end of my visit I braved the crowds around the foie gras booth and really treated myself. How so?
By having a pure foie gras sandwich for lunch. With a complimentary glass of wine to have alongside, of course.
If you’re around the salon is open until November 23rd, and then the second half of the expo begins in December: the gourmet Christmas Market! If you do choose to stop by my suggestion is to go hungry.
I’m off to Spain for a week – prepare yourself for lots of pictures of home cooked meals.
